Biography
Zella received her master’s degree in physician assistant studies from South University – Savannah and her bachelor’s in biomedical science from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse.
Before PA school, she worked as a Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Technician at an outpatient psychiatric practice in San Antonio, helping treat and provide emotional support for patients with treatment-resistant depression, anxiety, PTSD, and OCD. Here, she gained a love for helping those struggling with mental health issues. During PA school, Zella gained hands-on experience treating psychiatric patients in both the inpatient and outpatient settings at Georgia Regional Hospital in Savannah and at Salveo Integrative Health in Atlanta. While training in Atlanta, she facilitated group therapy sessions and provided medication management for patients in a partial hospitalization program.
Zella has been certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and is licensed by the state of Georgia to treat adults and children. At Horizon Behavioral Health, she diagnoses, manages, and treats mental health conditions. She strives to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where patients feel comfortable sharing their experiences and working collaboratively toward healing.
Personal Interests
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time in the sunshine with her dog or friends, lifting weights, going for runs at the park, being creative, and learning new things.
